The Top Ten Most Difficult Truth or Dare Questions

One of the most common party games is "Truth or Dare." The player has to choose between telling the truth, or completing a dare, and they receive points for one or the other. While there are thousands of truth or dare questions that you can ask players, in this article I will outline the top ten most difficult truth or dare questions, and what they can potentially reveal about the person.

Proceed With Caution

The following truth or dare questions can reveal more about your friends or colleagues than you ever wanted to know. Also, try to be cautious about who is present at the party. If a friend of someone's current boyfriend is at a party, keep this in mind when you are asking the girlfriend particular "truth" questions. Inevitably, her answers will get back to her boyfriend, and if it's something that she didn't want him knowing, it could have a disastrous affect on the relationship.

Question 1: Describe your First Intimate Experience

While this may often result in a fairly tame response, such as the typical intimate experimentation of school kids or younger kids, some people have somewhat traumatic experiences from their childhood. So exercise caution when asking this truth or dare question, because you may get far more than you bargained for.

Question 2: What is the most annoying habit that your girlfriend/boyfriend has?

This question is great to ask the person who is constantly bragging about their boyfriend or girlfriend. It will force them to admit something about them that isn't "perfect." Be careful though, the answer to this question can sometimes be fairly disgusting!

Question 3: How well "endowed" is your boyfriend or girlfriend?

This question is much more fun for a party of girlfriends, because with guys it is not quite as obvious which boyfriend is "well-endowed," and which isn't. On the other hand, guys will always know which girlfriend is better endowed than others. When girls get together and one of them is asked this very sensitive question, the answer you receive can sometimes be quite surprising!

Question 4: Have you ever not made it to the bathroom in time and had an "accident?"

This question will be very hard for someone to admit if they are a "prude" or very self-conscious. However other people have absolutely no problem answering this question, and will sometimes give you far more information than you bargained for.

Question 5: Have you ever been extremely "intimate" with someone in a public place?

The most common answers to this question, if the person is truthful, can range from in an airplane, an elevator, in a crowded theater, or in the same house (or sometimes the same room!) where parents or siblings are unaware.

Question 6: What is the most embarrassing thing you've ever done?

While this is often a fairly tame answer, sometimes people can really get themselves into trouble. If the answer is embarrassing enough, and someone in the room is unscrupulous enough, the answer can be potential ammunition for blackmail. Use this question with caution, and answer it with even greater caution!

Question 7: Have you ever cheated on your boyfriend/girlfriend?

This is a very common truth or dare question, with very common consequences. If the boyfriend or girlfriend is a current one, they **inevitably** discover how this question was answered, and the relationship is destroyed. Avoid this question at all costs, and if you are asked it, and can't answer with a "no" - chose a dare instead. The embarrassment of the dare will be far less than the damage from sharing such information with friends.

Question 8: If you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do?

While this question isn't dangerous at all, the answers to it can sometimes be very entertaining and unexpected.

Question 9: What is the strangest dream you've ever had?

Almost everyone has a strange dream, and often it's a recurring one. Hearing someone else's dream is sometimes very surreal, and often it can tell a great deal about the person's deepest fears.

Question 10: If you could make anyone in the room your servant for the day, who would it be and what would you make them do?

The answer to this question runs the gamut from lame, to extremely provocative and sometimes very disturbing! If you are brave enough to ask this question, be prepared for anything.

Increase your Psychic Awarness

Any form of ‘Psychic Awareness' allows the person possessing it to see and sense events beyond what is immediately occurring around us, or what is ‘Obvious'. It is thus sometimes referred to as ‘extra sensory perception', a virtual extension of our usual sensory prowess.
Everyone poses certain amount of Psychic Awareness or Ability. The only difference between them and regular Psychics is based on the level of trust they have on their capacity. A number of us clearly confess having a certain amount of intuitive capacity, but very few of those claiming to poses it project enough to trust their intuition entirely.
Our brain is regularly flooded with various sorts of images and information. The brain processes these information and assigns them meanings according to past experiences of the individual. Therefore, obviously enough, a number of information or images are not assigned any such meaning, basically due to the lack of the individuals past experience regarding the matter. The brain will also give priority to things which might affect the individual's survival over all else, so if there is something particularly hot or cold or potentially harmful around you that's what you will be informed about before you are let to know about the cute guy who is passing along. Only after these fundamental information have been dealt with will the brain try processing the more ‘subtle sensory input'. However, such a point, at which the less understood information is tagged, may or may not be reached at all.
Certain people, people we call Psychics are accustomed to decoding such sensory inputs more frequently than regular people like you or me. This extra ability to deal with most information that they gain access to is what we term as Psychic Ability.

Various Types of Psychic Abilities
You must have of course been bombarded with the names of various Psychic Abilities to have a bit of Psychic-oriented-vocabulary by now, thanks to the ever-growing influence of the television and the media. Our kids today rattle of names like Psycho-kinesis, Telepathy, Astral Projection, Clairvoyance etc. as easily as they munch their fries. But that is not to say that our awareness about any of these abilities have been developing holistically. Most of us use these terms, sadly enough, to appear learned. Our attempt at this point is to wade through any such scholarly pretence and to instead just acquaint ourselves with basic concepts.
Our Psychic Abilities are determined by the various chakras in our body. In all there are about 7 chakras located around our spine. The work of the chakras has often been compared to the aperture of a camera, the more they open up the broader our view becomes. Although there are 7 chakras in all not all of them are connected to gaining Psychic Awareness. In the following section we will only be focusing on a few of those chakras, which contribute, to our psychic abilities.
Let's take the 2nd Chakra first. The second Chakra allows us the potential of Clairsentient. This psychic ability helps you feel things at a very personal level, much like Diana Troy of the Star Trek series. Thus they are also sometimes referred to as ‘Empaths' in the sense that they are literally empathetic individuals, they feel exactly what others experience.
The 5th chakra grants us the power of Clairaudience or the potential to hear information. We always receive various guiding notes by a certain ‘inner voice' with in us; this inner voice is essentially the information, which we receive at a Clairaudient level.
Clairvoyance is a rare Psychic capacity to literally ‘see' images in one's own head. This unique power, allowed by the 6th Chakra, has often been referred to as the ‘third eye', indicating the insight it allows us.
The 7th chakra grants us the power to ‘Know'. This power of ‘Knowing' allows you a rather illogical knowledge of things around you, without letting you in on the secret as to how you know about them. The 7th chakra is located right at the top of your head and thus the information it has access to is not allowed to the other chakras in the other parts of the body.
Conclusion
Any sort of Psychic Ability, whether acquired or inherent is a gift, which must be exercised in, order to keep it effective. A number of us are dissuaded even frightened to make use of capacities, which we soon realize we possess. Being a Psychic or possessing such abilities is not ‘inhuman' but rather ‘extra-human', if such a word may be allowed. All of us have Psychic experiences. It is for us to recognize them and nurture them the way we would nurture a talent in singing or dancing. Ultimately this is a capacity, which allows us insight and a chance to help others, as well as our own selves.

How Meditation Can Help Us Alleviate Our Fears, Anxieties and Worries

When you meditate, the key of meditation is to focus on your breath because that is the only thing happening right here, right now.  You may have a mantra, a prayer word, visualize or use a guided meditation, but the key to any meditation is to be in the here and the now.

Our mind typically centers on the past and the future.  As you meditate your mind quiets down and begins to focus on one thing only, the here and the now.  Right here in the now, there are no concepts, no fears, and no anxieties to worry about.  Those fears and worries come when our minds are working, going from the past to the future, thinking about what has been and what could be.  When we make our minds quiet and be in the here and the now, these fears and worries go away.  That's one of the beautiful things about meditation, you are in the here and the now without the concepts that you have created that cause fears and worries in your mind.  It gives you a respite from all these worries, anxieties and fears we experience throughout the day.

Besides meditating your worries and fears away, you can practice being in the present all the time.  If you are in the here and the now you are just thinking and focusing on the one thing you are doing at that moment.  You're keeping the thoughts of the past and future from entering your mind.  If you get up and wash the dishes, you simply just wash the dishes; if you sit down to write someone an e-mail you just concentrate on writing that e-mail.  Of course, during these times thoughts will arise, but living a true meditative life is one that when these thoughts arise you get back to being present with "what is" and focus on that and nothing more.  A lot of people worry that if you keep pushing these thoughts, these fears and anxieties aside and ignoring them you won't get anything accomplished; however, the exact opposite is true.  Highly successful people are able to get lots done while "working in the zone".  I talk about this more in depth in my book/ebook Success Beyond Your Imagination – Working in the "Zone".

The message I'm trying to get across is that you must be present in whatever it is that you are doing right now.  For example if you are a surgeon and you are in surgery, you concentrate and are 100% present with your surgical instruments and procedure.  If you are a police officer and have other people's lives in your hands you must be totally present in what you are doing or people could die.  Of course, not all of us have these types of responsibilities and have much more mundane lives that do not really require constant attention and focus.  This is why we often allow our minds to wander and not be present with what's happening right now.  If you go back to your meditation you go back to your mantra; similarly when your mind wanders in your every day life and allows you to worry you just go back to what's happening right now.  Don't get upset that you've allowed your mind to stray but instead just come back to focusing on the here and now.  Keeping those thoughts of the past and future from entering into the present will keep those fears, worries and anxieties from stressing your life.

The Seven Branch Menorah - Symbol of the Jewish Faith

The 7-branch menorah is one of the oldest symbols of the Jewish faith. It is found mostly in temples and synagogues, often up front as an item by itself, and also as a design in stained glass windows, ceilings & wall murals, paintings, sculptures, and more. Interestingly, increasingly some churches also have seven branch menorahs in their sanctuaries to remind them of the menorah that once stood in the Temple in Jerusalem. Although, this should not be such a surprise bearing in mind the menorah's place in the Hebrew scriptures and the role of the Old Testament in the life of the church & Christian.

In addition, menorahs are popular as display items in both Jewish & Christian homes, and can also be found in schools, museums, art galleries just to mention a few. Unlike the 9-branch hanukkah menorah, the 7-branch menorah has no Shamash (servant), and it has just seven branches; that is because the purpose of the 9-branch hanukkah menorah is to remember the miracle of the oil at hanukkah, whereas the 7-branch menorah is a symbol of the Jewish faith and was always present in the Temple when it stood in Jerusalem.

The 7-branch menorah is made according to the commandment in Exodus 25:31-40. Priests would light it every evening and clean it every morning. Jewish sages teach that this menorah was the vessel that G-d used to blend the spiritual life that is to come with the physical life of this world. Ultimately, the purpose of this menorah is not to illuminate the temple but to spread its light throughout the world. It is a symbol of the nation of Israel and it is a physical reminder of the commandment in Isaiah 42:6 to be a light to the nations. This commandment, given originally to the people of Israel, is often used by Christians to justify the requirement upon them to spread their faith and the gospel, hence, again, the significance of the menorah for them again.

The 7-branch menorah can be of any size. For example, one of the largest menorahs stands in front of the gates to the Knesset building in Jerusalem. It was erected as a reminder of the indestructibility of the Jewish people; a truth that has borne true time and time again despite persecution, wars, and even assimilation. It was the 7-branch menorah that was lit after the Maccabees had their victory and rededicated the Temple, and the oil they found that was only enough to burn for one day actually lasted for eight while more oil was being made and consecrated.

The seven branch menorahs found today can be lit with oil or candles (special glass oil containers with special wics are required for oil burning), and there are even some that are electric; in addition, they can be of any size, ranging from 4" to over 4 feet. There are various styles of menorahs, with the more popular being the "Large Cups Menorah" which is considered closest to that found in the Temple long ago, the "12 Tribes Menorah" which carries the symbols of each of the 12 tribes of Israel, and various contemporary designs. Many of these menorahs are made in India, so ask before you buy because there is a big difference in quality, weight, and how they are made!

Chinese Zodiac Compatibility : Tiger and Dragon

Very Good
The Tiger-Dragon pairing is a good one because both are adventurous and free-spirited. The Dragon of course is more careful of the two. Both enjoy having spirited arguments and love adventure. Their home life may be very chaotic because of this but there is love overall.

Tiger Personality
The Tiger just like the animal counterpart is fierce less and known for bravery. They are very competitive and can get very aggressive when challenged. They are also very charismatic so people generally find it hard to say no to them. Because of this reason watch out, when you are up against a Tiger personality.

Tigers are very restless. They are constantly looking for the next mountain cross and when they cannot cross the mountain they can get very depressed, isolated and miserable. Tigers have good leadership abilities and they may excel in managing and leading positions. They can be very proud and charismatic leaders, good strategists and always work with a hidden agenda.

Tigers are like magnets. Friends love to surround them because of the confidence they exude. Tigers are very passionate and romantic. They enjoy sex and life.

Because Tigers have a very restless nature it is very hard to tie them to a routine.

Dragon Personality
The Dragons are free spirits and are a bundle of energy. Conformance to a rule does not stick well with the Dragon. They are energetic, enthusiastic people who can also be pretty aggressive. The Dragon can see the route in a situation when others see only blind spots. Because of this Dragons can be very good leaders. Going after what they want is part of their nature and they will find ways to overcome obstacles and win in any situation.

Dragons love to do things on a grand scale. They love good food, big gestures, big ideas and live “a la mode”. They love nature and spending time outdoors. They are not big time on home-related activities but they respect and protect their home and family.

Dragons are emotionally very self-sufficient people because of which they are often not disappointed people. Friends and family love them.

Dragons enjoy decorating their homes. Their imagination and artistic sense usually makes the Dragon’s home look very majestic and expressive. Dragons are also very charitable creatures. Wealth accumulation is not big on their list. But dragons are blessed with a Midas touch that it will hard to see a poor Dragon.

Panic Attacks and Marijuana, K2

If you believe panic episodes are overrated, you haven't searched Google lately on the subject. "Panic attacks" received roughly 15,600,000 search hits and "anxiety attacks" Another 1,790,000. That proves that not only is there a large amount of interest in the subject but just as importantly, many victims of the syndrome. I employ the word syndrome because its cause is mostly psychological as well as relatively "harmless" to the sufferer.

Its distinct cause is fear, plain and simple. This being asserted , however , it would be culpable to realize that the symptoms are entirely psychosomatic because any amount of panic episodes can be attributed to, enhanced by, or without delay due to the mental reaction to any number of drugs - marijuana included. One approved expert ( whose opinion has been attested by numerous others ) stated,

"Substance abuse and the withdrawal of the substance being abused can mimic panic attacks. Alcohol, marijuana, opiates, hallucinogens, cocaine, over-the-counter drugs ( nasal sprays and diet tablets ), caffeine and benzodiazepines can all be related to panic attacks."

The presumption that marijuana is the safe drug that "the authorities love to hate" is simply an erroneous presumption. I am not arguing here for continued criminalizing of pot or decriminalization actually, just stating the known facts.

Though marijuana has some healing qualities,eg increased taste for cancer sufferers, a dulling of pain due to many maladies and its efficacy in combating glaucoma, it argues nothing for the recreational use of the drug.

Each pot smoker is familiarised with the "superficial" negative effects of the habit. Things like indolence, listlessness, and lets not forget paranoia exhibited by many users.

The more serious effects that researches have discovered are things such as the negative effect on short term memory. Research has demonstrated that long-term adult users score less on short-term memory tests, as well as demonstrate reduced oral and mathematics skills compared with non-users.

What makes these negatives even more upsetting is the relative strength of marijuana from prior eras and the THC ( the component that is mind altering ) levels usually seen in today's variety.

According to the Yankee Counsel For Drug Education, THC content of marijuana, which averaged less than 1 p.c in 1974, rose to a median 4 % by 1994. For the highly well-liked form of marijuana called Sinsemilla ( from the Spanish "without seeds" ), made from just the buds and flowering tops of female plants, THC content averages 7.5 p.c and ranges as high as twenty-four percent.

The message has been clear in the case of marijuana use and panic episodes. The answer for these panic episodes is simple--break the habit.

Now there's an herbal mix with effects similar, in fact nearly identical to those of other "herbs," but 100% legal and so far proven harmless. It's called simply K2 Herbal Mix. For more information on the K2 Herbal Mix, click here: K2 Herbal Mix.

Celtic Symbols Druids and the Spirals of Life

Some of the oldest symbols associated with the Celts are Celtic spirals. Prominently displayed on ancient artifacts dating long before the written word in Ireland, Celtic spirals are second only to Knotwork designs as the symbols most associated with Celtic art. These mythical spirals are among the oldest symbols associated with Celtic art. They are believed to represent the spiritual balance between inner and outer consciousness. People from many lands herald Celtic designs as the emblem of their heritage because the people known as "Celts" lived in many areas of modern-day Europe.

The Triskele, or the Triskelion
The triskele, otherwise known as the triskelion, is a three-pronged spiral, and is often used as a basis for more complex spirals. Some suggest ancient Celtic triskeles represented the Triple Goddess of the three ages of womanhood. It later came to represent the Holy Trinity in Christianity - God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Whatever its' meaning, it is interesting that the motif is based around The Number 3 - regarded as a highly sacred number in many ancient cultures, not least The Druids.

Three is a Magic Number
The Druids believed in three worlds and in transmigration from one to the other: in a world above this one, in which happiness predominated; a world below, of misery; and this present state. This transmigration was to punish and reward, and also to purify the soul. In the present world, said the Druids, good and evil are so exactly balanced that man has the utmost freedom and is able to choose or reject either. Then there are three objects of metempyschosis: to collect into the soul the properties of all being, to acquire a knowledge of all things, and to get power to conquer all evil. They are also, the Celtic Druids say, three kinds of knowledge; knowledge of the name of each thing, of its cause, and its influence. Three things that continually grow less; darkness, falsehood, and death. And three things that constantly increase; light, life, and truth. The Number Three is a sacred symbol in many cultures all over the world.

The Spiral of Life
The Triple Spiral, otherwise known as the "Spiral of Life", is found on many ancient Irish stone carvings - the most famous of which is Newgrange, found in County Meath, Ireland, which dates back to 2500 BC. Most scholars believe the spiral of life represents the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Others say this deeply mystical symbol represents the male, female, and child on the path of life. Another interpretation is that it also represents the Triple Goddess.

Trinity Celtic Knot or Triquetra
The Triquetra, commonly known as the Trinity knot, takes an individual strand and wraps it into and onto itself, such that it becomes a three-lobed, yet singular design. This design symbolized the connection of the three planes of existence: mind, body, and spirit. To Christians, it illustrated the essential core of Christian belief wherein one God was Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. For both beliefs, the Trinity knot symbolized the way in which three separate essences were vitally interconnected.

Romance, Marriages and Relationships

Romance, Marriages and Relationships

Astrologically Venus is known as the goddess of love. In a male horoscope Venus represents his to be wife. Mars is the energy that super charges this love. Rahu multiplies it to the extreme level.

But desires, pleasure and true love are three different things. Each plays a role in human life and with minute observation one can really deduce their level of intensity in a human life. For example I have always seen Rahu and Venus combination ending in a sudden love marriage, provided Mars is set free from blemishes.

In other cases I have seen that a dasha of Venus or planet like Rahu with Venus also results in an affair. (It can also result in an extra marital affair as well.). But in most of the cases Rahu Venus combination also denotes physical level of love rather than real love. This happens with more intensity when Jupiter is under some kind of blemish. In contrary to this Venus with Jupiter or Jupiter Venus exchange also results in love marriage some times. But this is more on a subtle level and has a grace which lacks in Rahu Venus case.

Watery signs bring more extremity to the passion and emotions. These combinations may result in emotional bonding and attachments. Sometimes when Moon is combined to Saturn and Venus Rahu combines then results are entirely different and sometimes drastic. For a long lasting relationship a male horoscope should always carry a strong Venus, both in D-9 and the ascendant chart. The seventh house should be free from Rahu, Saturn Mars relationship. Ketu should be free of blemishes and should not be placed in the seventh house.

In a female horoscope Jupiter should be strong and free from blemishes. It can be checked in both the charts. A debilitated and weak Jupiter is not good for a happy married life. With this Ketu, Saturn Mars and Rahu should not influence the seventh house.

A malefic Rahu and its dasha in a female horoscope may result in a highly ambitious personality. Such a lady may collapse her relationships when compared against her ambitions.
I have seen people matching their horoscope based on Ashtkoot compatibility. Some more advanced brains even use names for compatibility. Please note that both these methods carry big loopholes and I consider the second method to be the most unreliable one. After checking for Gunas one should look for condition of seventh house lords, Venus, Jupiter, current dasha , blemishes on seventh house, Rashi relationship and only then one can announce the real match. I have a example where a lady has a match of 36 Gunas and she got divorced. She is living all alone in USA. Her seventh house carried a debilitated Mars with Saturn aspect from tenth house. Her Jupiter was also debilitated.(A debilitated Jupiter in the ascendant combined to fourth, seventh, ninth or twelfth house lord in d-4, often results in a foreign travel)

I have noticed through experience that the placement of seventh house lord in a dual sign may also result in a second marriage provided the marriage was done at an early age of twenty one to twenty four. Blemishes created by Mars and Saturn can be avoided by simply avoiding an early marriage.

People are also concerned about Magalike Dosha. While Mangal means Shubha in Vedic terms, it is often associated to a dosha. Mars actually denotes energy. A channelization of energy is denoted by ascendant lord, Moon and associations to Mars. If energy is not channelized in a proper manner it can often results in malefic outbursts and hence can result in a separation.
Mere placement of Mars in ascendant (Narad Shanita), second house or so cannot and should not be considered a dosha.
There are few other point which must be noticed while analyzing some one for relationship:

1. Male or female, both horoscopes should be checked for condition of Jupiter in D-9 and D-1.
2. Seventh house, twelfth house and Moon should be checked for mentality.
3. Rahu, Venus and Mars combination in twelfth house or any other house should be checked thoroughly. Consider Mercury and Jupiter and you can estimate the amount of cheating this person can do.
4. Check for the last finger of both the hands, A bend in the opposite direction or certain blemishes should be checked.
5. Mars, Saturn+Mars, weak Ketu, Rahu+Venus+M ars, Rahu+Mars are certain combinations which indicate some bad habits. Check for influences of Mercury and Jupiter and you can ascertain what a person is upto.

The Taurus Woman

Whether you see her at the market Saturday morning dealing with the sales women or at a festivity, present everywhere, or stuck in traffic without getting hysterical or home preparing a delicious meal for her big family, the Taurus woman is the one that takes her female role seriously. She looks like the woman capable of finding a solution to any problem, and her strategic way of finding the best solution for everything make her wanted everywhere: as a mother, as a lover, as a wife, friend, boss, colleague or neighbor, everything fits her!

Physical appearance:
Taurus women are not very tall and their bodies are pretty muscular but graceful at the same time, since Venus watches over them. They are really good housewives and plenty of them eat a lot, which causes problems for their diets. Usually Taurus women are overweight. They are not always self conscious about how they look, and most of them are a invigorating presence. They walk suggests that they are sure of themselves and know which way to take.

Mentality:
For the Taurus woman, everything is planned and well thought of beforehand. Her practical sense gives her intuition in dealing with materialistic problems. Without dreaming away and gazing absentmindedly into space, the Taurus woman has her time very well organized and her life planed until retirement. She's a very determined woman who knows what she wants, who has expectations and who manages to combine well her career, family, love and money into a relationship.

Her perseverance can lead to obsession when it's about her or her family's interests. She is very loyal; she would never cheat on her husband and would be the last one leaving a sinking ship, only when she made sure that there is absolutely nothing left to do.
She's often possessive and can appear to be pretty difficult for those who judge her by the way she looks. Everything is due to her ability to give and to expect getting the same back. It can happen for a Taurus woman to start thinking only about the materialistic side of things.

Health:
In general, she doesn't have health problems. However, if she gets too stressed, she might start having insomnias, headaches and depressions. At a young age, she might catch flues easily. Careful how you eat and what you eat!

Money:
If you're a Taurus, it's highly probable that making money is your life's goal. You are capable of fighting to go wherever you want to go but without being immoral. You can start up a new business that is based on honest hard work and you will definitely make it. Your practical and strategic sides hardly ever fail, especially when you marry someone that is similar to you.

Love life:
It's like a movie that you've seen twenty times and that you can never get bored of. Although she likes the pleasures of life, she is not adventurous and prefers stability instead of taking risks. She loves strong men that she likes to admire and support. Because she influenced by Venus, she attracts many admirers, from poets to businessmen. She's romantic without being sappy, she's sensual and provoking, capable of offering a lot, and is the partner that every man wants to have as mother, wife and friend.
She doesn't do things in a hurry and takes her time to consider the man she's about to spend her life with. Her presence is welcome, her intelligence resembles old wisdom, the way she manages to keep a home makes her liked by men and the way she loves her children makes her complete.

She is capable of giving her children very good education, and will always be a role model for them.

Breath Meditation: Some of the many ways in which breath meditation may help you enhance your general well being

Now I'd like to share with you my favorite form of meditation, called "breath meditation." I believe it is one of the most powerful, yet one of the easiest, meditations to learn.

Before we begin, let's talk a bit about the mind. The mind is made up of wave patterns. When we think, it causes wave patterns to occur in the brain. There are four main types of brain waves. The pattern we are normally in when awake and thinking is called "beta wave" or "beta state." When we are dropping off to sleep and the mind begins to quiet, that is "alpha state." When we are asleep or quietly meditating, that is "theta state." The deepest state of sleep or of meditation (where there is no body awareness) is called "delta state."

The goal in meditation is to get you to the theta/delta stage. I have found that the breath meditation technique is one of the most effective ways to get to the deeper levels of meditation and still the mind. Most people who are new to meditation and are trying a variety of ways to meditate will vacillate between the beta and alpha states in their initial practice. These stages of meditation are relaxing and a wonderful experience, but as with all things in life, the more you practice, the better you will get. Eventually you will desire to quiet the mind at the theta/delta levels and will go to the deeper realms of meditation to achieve this stage.

Now let's talk about this effective and helpful way to quiet the mind, called "breath meditation." It can also be the most challenging way, because although it's simplistic, it is not always easy to do. It is easy to learn but sometimes difficult to practice.

In this form of meditation, you simply "follow your breath." Just observe your breathing with no mantra, no prayer word, just simple and quiet noticing of the breath. How it works is that you sit up straight in a quiet, comfortable place with your feet on the floor or legs crossed. As you sit there, watch or take notice of your breath. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, and breathe out. You can breathe in through your mouth or your nose, it doesn't' matter. The only thing that matters is paying attention to your breath.

If something distracts you, simply come back to your breathing. When strenuous or uncomfortable thoughts arise (come to the surface), don't try to ignore them or push them away but instead acknowledge them and go back to observing your breathing. Allow your attention to focus on that. Acknowledge any distractions, without being annoyed by them, and simply direct your awareness back to your breath. Eventually, thoughts will diminish, your mind will get quiet, and your brain patterns will begin to be at those deeper levels. You will find a deep peace that you may have never experienced before. Stresses will dissolve, and a sense of well-being will envelop you.

I encourage you to try the breath meditation and to practice it often. I also strongly suggest you meditate twice a day, once first thing in the morning and again just before bed at night. I find these times to be the easiest to make into a habit. We can meditate any time of the day or night, but it's best to make a point of doing it twice daily and to establish a routine of morning and evening meditation. A sense of peace will develop in your life with regular practice. In my experience, breath meditation is one of the most powerful meditations in the universe.

The Breath Meditation is a simple technique.  In this form of meditation, what I want you to do is simply "follow your breath".  Follow your breath with no mantra, no prayer word, just simple and quiet following of your breath.  How it works is that you sit in a quiet, comfortable place, sitting up with your feet on the floor or legs crossed.  As you are sitting there watch or take notice of your breath.  Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, and breathe out.  You can breathe in through your mouth or your nose, it doesn't' matter.  The only thing that matters is following your breath.  If something distracts you, simply come back to your breath.  When strenuous thoughts or uncomfortable thoughts arise or come to the surface, don't try to ignore them or push them away but instead acknowledge them and go back to your breath.  Focus on your breath, nothing but your breath.  Again, any distractions are acknowledged but always to simply go back to your breath.  There are no thoughts, your mind will get quiet and still inside and your brain patterns will begin to go to those deeper levels.  You will find a deep peace that you may only experience when you are at a deep sleep at night; however, with meditation you are giving your mind this break during the day.  Stresses will go away and peace will come to you.

I encourage you to try the Breath Meditation and practice it often.  I also highly suggest you meditate twice a day, once first thing in the morning and again just before bed at night.  I find these times to be the easiest to make into a habit.  You can meditate at any time of day or night, but I highly suggest you make it a point to do so twice a day, once first thing in the morning and again just before bed at night.  The Breath Meditation is truly what I consider to be one of the most powerful meditations in the universe.
